The version commit the driver wrote for 0.0.1341 (f9f866fc) has a subject full of empty entries: 0.0.1341: ; text_tiers: ... (#1005); std: ... (#1006); check, emit: ... (#1007); ; ; ; check: .... About 20 of its titles are empty.

Probe: git log -1 --format=%s f9f866fc.

Where: scripts/release.nika. release_title(r.pushed) (:70) takes the sha from the report’s Pushed: field (local <sha> or <sha>). When that field holds anything else (several shas, a note after the sha, or a sha that is gone), git log -1 --format=%s gives nothing. titles.push (:206) then pushes the empty string, and titles.join("; ") (:156) writes it.

To build:

  1. release_title takes the first word that looks like a sha from Pushed:. When git log gives no subject, it falls back to the report’s Changelog: line, so no title is ever empty.
  2. A test in scripts/ or tests/compiler/ (in Nikaia) for a report whose Pushed: is local abc1234 (after rebase).
