Found (prover lane landing, 2026-10-31): scripts/release.nika decides which reports of a lane are already released. Without DIR/released.txt it counts every report whose file mtime is older than CHANGELOG.md’s last commit as released (old: !listed && stamp < since, release_reports). Other lanes raise the version many times a day, and a rebase or checkout rewrites mtimes, so a lane without released.txt silently loses its entries: docs/briefs/prover had nine done reports (p2, p5-p12) that no version named; release.nika --dry-run showed SKIPPED 9 old reports and offered 4 entries. Raised by hand in 0.0.1327, with docs/briefs/prover/released.txt written.

Also: the architect’s report (architect-task.md.report.md) is read as a builder report and stops the run with STOP ...: Deviation:.

To build

  1. release.nika: a lane without released.txt is an error to fix (print STOP DIR/released.txt missing), never a guess from mtimes; or cycle.nika writes it on the lane’s first run.
  2. Skip architect-task.md.report.md and qa/*.report.md in release_reports.
  3. Check the other lanes (docs/briefs/, bugs/, yaml/) have a released.txt listing what their versions already carry.
