Brief: E12-3a, the read walks of emit/seeds.rs into emit_seeds.nika (#125)

Score: self-hosting lane (docs/priorities.md; docs/selfhosting-plan.md, C-7 rest and E12, row E12-3, now split 3a/3b). About 370 Rust lines; E12-2 put self-hosting at 78.6 %.

Facts

Locations (crates/nikaia/src/emit/seeds.rs)

calls_of :52, impls_of :79, root_name :114, Seeds::read_with :130-252 (the declared-struct loop, the fixed-point loop calling contracts::maps::analyse_with(units, &seeds) :169/:184, the pub fn loop filling tables.calls), read_barriers :255, body :413, count/distinct/mentions_a_struct :452-475. Target: crates/nikaia-std/src/tools/emit_seeds.nika (670 lines). analyse_with: crates/nikaia/src/contracts/maps.rs:122. Other names: nikaia run scripts/where.nika -- NAME....

To build

  1. Move calls_of, root_name, impls_of, body, read_barriers and the declared-struct loop into emit_seeds.nika (walking Vec[Spanned[Item]] per unit). Commit (Part of #125).
  2. Move the rest of read_with (fixed-point loop and pub fn loop). analyse_with stays Rust: reach it through a host trait method that takes the current EmitSeedsTables and returns per function its key, conflict, own() and fixed() as plain values (the Rust side may build a temporary Seeds from a clone of the tables: at most five rounds). The Rust Seeds::read_with keeps its signature and keeps filling shapes from analyse_with as now. Remove the moved Rust. Commit (Part of #125).
  3. Known risks (plan): Option<usize> crosses as -1; a callback returning a list of tuples from Rust is the first in emit_seeds.nika. A lowering defect met is fixed in the compiler as its own commit with a test (CLAUDE.md, Fix, do not work around); if it cannot be fixed here, stop and report blocked.

Out of scope (E12-3b, a later brief): emit/host.rs seeds_begin, seeds_end, seeded, seeds_arity, place_*, set_floor, Emitter.place/floor.

Done when

lower-std byte-identical apart from the moved code (the oracle: a missed node shows as a lowered diff); it filters seed, map, hash, barrier, and the guard set of .claude/agents/builder.md; nikaia test tests/compiler --both-settings; python3 scripts/self_hosting.py figure under Tests:. Changelog: none (no behaviour changes).

Stop and report if

An output of lower-std or a test changes beyond the moved code; an open design choice; an error in another agent’s file.

Read docs/builder-facts.md.

Rules (CLAUDE.md; this block is pasted into every brief, also a fix-forward)

Report (at most 15 lines, to exactly /home/user/Nikaia/docs/briefs/e12-3a.md.report.md)

Fields of docs/architect.md, Briefs and reports: Result: done|noop|partial|blocked (the bare word alone on that line: Result: done, never a summary after it, which cuts the batch, b869a 2026-10-27; Owner: is a question for the owner or none, never a role), Files, Commit, Fixes, Pushed, Tests, Gate (green|red), Deviation, Found, Needs, Changelog, Owner, Disk freed. none where nothing, and then the bare word: Deviation: none (a note) cuts the batch (batch.nika compares exactly); a note goes into the commit message. Found: is only for a defect outside your change (it cuts the batch); how you solved your own step goes into the commit message. Deviation: is only a step of the brief built otherwise than written or not built (a choice the brief left to you, such as keep what X needs and say so, is no deviation: it goes into the commit message); how you verified (e.g. a test not run against the unfixed compiler) goes under Tests:. A noop says why under Tests: (what was probed), not under Deviation:. Final answer, one line: done <sha>, report <path> (or BLOCKED: ... / PUSH REJECTED ...).
