Tests: the step-1 Nikaia code (ComputedAt, declare_items, computed_defaults, attribute_values, attribute_texts; check_attributes_mark_name made pub) passed lower-std with no refusals, then cargo check -p nikaia-std --features compiler failed: ledger_items.rs:226 expected &Option<String>, found &String at declared_function(.., &target, &outer). Reproduced alone in /tmp/claude-0/-home-user-Nikaia/a3f03829-e433-4ce7-a5a6-7d951a81c1b5/scratchpad/c1a/probe-option-arg.nika (nikaia run: Mismatched types). Step 2 tests not run (nothing built).
Gate: red
Deviation: steps 1-2 not built: a compiler defect stops the slice, and its fix lies outside the files the brief allows
Found: lowering defect: a bare String handed to a String? parameter that is lowered as &Option<String> is emitted as &target, with no Some(..), and rustc refuses it. Probe: fn show(target: String?, n: i64) -> i64 { let k = target?.len() ?? 0; return k + n } called as show(name.clone(), 1) in a loop gives fn show(target: &Option<String>, ..) and show(&target, 1). With the body (target ?? "").len() it lowers and runs, so the trigger is the &Option<String> lowering (declared.nika :110 declared_function reads target?.clone()). builder-facts says this form works (“[works] a ref String? parameter takes a bare String argument”). Suspect: the argument wrap (FactWrap::Constructor, emit_exprs.nika :107, applied in emit_core_args.nika around :404-440) is not chosen for an owned-option-by-reference parameter.
Needs: bug-lane fix of the defect above, then rerun C1a. My verified step-1 work is saved as /tmp/claude-0/-home-user-Nikaia/a3f03829-e433-4ce7-a5a6-7d951a81c1b5/scratchpad/c1a/c1a-wip.patch (ledger_items.nika and check_attributes.nika; or_insert_with(fn() { collections::BTreeSet() }) stands for Rust’s or_default, because Entry.or_default is NK1171; .map(fn(p) { p.clone() }) stands for .cloned(), NK1171 on Seq; a match replaces the Option.map for the mark). My two files are restored and lowered back to HEAD. Process event: another agent rebuilt target/fast/nikaia at 18:40 with a TrustedMap emitter change, so my closing lower-std rewrote lowered/project_members.rs (HashMap -> TrustedMap). It is not mine and I left it in place: the owner of that change should commit it or re-lower.
